'Lee Jun-ho', the male protagonist of the drama 'Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo', is a perfect man. He is known as the 'popular man' of the large law firm 'Hanbada' because of his great height and handsome appearance, as well as being capable and good-natured.
He was perfect without any flaws, so he might seem like a character far from reality. However, with the power of actor Kang Tae-oh, 'Lee Jun-ho' was born as a character with a step to reality, and the love line with 'Woo Young-woo', who has an autism spectrum, was also convincingly unraveled.
Ajou Business recently had an interview with Kang Tae-oh, an actor from the ENA drama 'Woo Young-woo in Wonderland'.
"Honestly, I didn't expect to be loved this much. It's bewildering, I'm overwhelmed, and I'm grateful. Not only me, but also the director, writer, and colleagues are all happy because it ended with a lot of love."
'Mysterious Lawyer Woo Young-woo', which was first aired on ENA on June 29, started with an audience rating of 0.95% (Nielsen Korea national standard) and ended with 17.6%. In particular, it aired on Netflix and caused a hot reaction not only in Korea but also abroad.
"I saw the scenario and while monitoring, I felt, 'It's so warm'. It's small and happy, exhilarating and cool. As an actor and as a viewer, I felt a complex feeling, and I think the viewers felt the same way. ."
What did Tae-oh Kang think about romance? I wondered if the fact that the other person had an autism spectrum would change the romance acting as well.
"I thought about it for a while, but I tried not to get too caught up in that thought. I thought that it might be reverse discrimination. Scene), I think I was able to feel more normal. 'Lee Jun-ho' felt respect for 'Woo Young-woo' when he saw him in court, and that feeling developed into love. 'Autism Spectrum' was just patience."
Kang Tae-oh explained that 'Weird Lawyer Woo Young-woo' is "a story of a lawyer with an autism spectrum and a genius brain growing up," and that romance is only one of the factors that make him grow.
“With ‘Woo Young-woo’, ‘Lee Jun-ho’, ‘Choi Su-yeon’ (Ha Yun-kyung) and ‘Kwon Min-woo’ all grew up. We all tried to focus on the keyword ‘growth’, so I didn’t feel a lot of pressure during the filming.”
Kang Tae-oh laughed at 'Lee Jun-ho', saying, "I'm not from this world." He said he was a character with an ideal, fantasy element, so he felt a lot of pressure when acting.
“I felt a lot of pressure. Can I portray this wonderful and ideal character? Can I express ‘Lee Jun-ho’ well? I did."
How similar is 'Lee Jun-ho' to his real self? I asked if there was a part where I took the image of Kang Tae-oh to make it into a character that stuck to reality. However, he waved his hand, saying, "'Lee Jun-ho' is too perfect," and an agency official who was watching this from the side replied, "It seems that the unadorned appearance is similar."
"Hahaha. I don't know about the resemblance to me, but seeing 'Young-woo' getting hurt because of 'Lee Jun-ho's sister in the play, I sympathized. I couldn't understand the saying, 'Meet someone you can take care of instead of the person you take care of.' It's different from my dating style. If it were me, I would have a big fight with my sister. I did, but I think I would have fought harder.”
As 'Lee Jun-ho', who is in charge of 'Romance' in the drama, there were many romantic and romantic lines. Kang Tae-oh laughed and joked, "It was really hard when I was acting."
“I thought that I might feel it too much. I worried a lot. In the end, I couldn’t find an answer to the end. I thought I had to express my feelings as ‘Junho’.
He also revealed the behind-the-scenes story of Jang An's popular line, "I'm sorry". He explained that he went through a lot of takes and kept changing the tone.
"The nuances of the lines change with the fine adjustment of the dynamics. They say that if you push it even a little harder, it feels scary. Hahaha. After trying various things, the current 'I'm sorry?' was completed."
As he was so popular and it was the line that gave Tae-oh Kang the nickname 'Supseop', I was curious about his feelings when filming the scene. When asked, "Did you have any expectations that it would cause a hot reaction?" he replied, "I didn't think I would get such a big response when I was acting."
"Like 'Youngwoo', I thought 'Junho' was nervous and uncomfortable in a good way. I became more conscious of the line 'Your hugging chair'. Ha ha ha. I had a feeling that '(the author) put the line at some point.'
Regarding the collaboration with actress Park Eun-bin, who plays 'Woo Young-woo', he said, "It was surprising."
"I always thought it was great. I heard that you only had about two weeks after the drama 'Love Your Love' ended, but you did a really good job. I think that he is an actor with a lot to learn. "
Tae-oh Kang belongs to a rare group as an actor. The actor group Surprise consisted of actors Kang Tae-oh, Seo Kang-jun, Gong Myung, Lee Tae-hwan, and Yoo Il, from Fantagio, the agency at the time. He, who still maintains a close friendship, showed off his close friendship, saying, "I received congratulations from (Gong) Myung and (Seo) Kang Jun-hyung."
“Kang Jun-yi hyung and Myung-eun also contacted me to congratulate them. I think that because we are a group, we feel more connected and we feel a lot of unity.
Since it is made up of actors of the same age, there might not be a clear comparison. When asked, "Did you not feel impatient or anxious seeing your colleagues announce your name and succeed?", he said, "I thought I was envious."
"Everyone did really well and became famous. Thanks to that, I thought that many people recognized the surprise and asked about me. I thought I was envious, but fortunately, my personality itself doesn't seem to be impatient. If I dig, I endured it with the hope that someday I might recognize it too."
Following Seo Kang-joon, Gong Myung, and Lee Tae-hwan, Kang Tae-oh is also planning to enlist this year. As the drama 'Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo' is enjoying a lot of popularity, it can be a sad situation. He gave a positive reply, "It's rather good."
"If you think it's disappointing, it's going to be endlessly sad. I'm going to think positively that the work is going well and I'm able to leave. I'll come back with a mature image, so please wait. Hahaha. I'll show you a more matured Kang Tae-oh."
